Do I need Tutor Pro, or does the free version of Tutor LMS work?
Tutor LMS Watch Report requires only the free version of Tutor LMS. Tutor Pro is optional — the plugin adds cohort analytics, retention curves, and per-student timelines beyond what Pro's video percentage feature provides, so Pro users benefit further but it is not a requirement.
Which video players does this actually support?
The plugin works with YouTube, Vimeo, Wistia, and self-hosted HTML5 video. Best results are achieved with Tutor Player for YouTube and Vimeo embeds. Common iframe embeds are also supported.
What does 'fail-open design' mean — could students get permanently locked out?
If a lesson has no tracking data recorded yet — for example, a brand-new video or a student whose session wasn't captured — the gating rule will not permanently lock them out. The fail-open design ensures students are never blocked by a missing data edge case.
Is student watch data stored on my server or sent somewhere else?
All data is stored securely in your own WordPress database using purpose-built tracking tables. Nothing is transmitted to external analytics servers — your student data stays on your installation.
Can I track anonymous visitors who aren't logged in?
