If you've ever wondered whether your students are actually watching

You're not imagining it. Completion checkboxes can be ticked in seconds. Video progress bars can be dragged to the end. And your carefully crafted lesson content? You have no idea how much of it students actually absorbed — or where they gave up.

Tutor LMS Watch Report changes all of that. See real retention curves, rewatch hotspots, per-student watch timelines, and — when you're ready — enforce a genuine watch threshold before any lesson can be marked complete.

✓ Single-site annual licence ✓ All courses & students covered ✓ Works with YouTube, Vimeo, Wistia & HTML5

Watch how Tutor LMS Watch Report changes the way you work with your course content

Here's what we hear every day:

The frustrations that bring instructors to us

"

📉 "I don't know where students stop watching"

Tutor LMS tracks course progress and resumes video position, but it never shows you where learners drop off mid-video or which lessons lose attention before the end. You're flying blind on your most important content decisions.

"

🔁 "I can't tell which parts get replayed"

Without rewatch data you can't tell whether a segment is confusing students or simply worth revisiting — both situations demand very different responses from you as an instructor. So you guess, and that's not good enough.

"

✅ "'Mark as Complete' doesn't prove they watched"

Students can click play and immediately mark a lesson complete. Without a watch threshold enforced server-side, your completion data is unreliable for compliance or attendance reporting. That's a real problem.

Here's what changes everything:

Tutor LMS Watch Report fills the gap between 'clicked play' and 'actually watched'. It tracks real progress in short time segments, records pause, seek, and replay events, and surfaces everything in instructor-friendly reports inside wp-admin — no third-party analytics account required.

Use it in observe-only mode to collect honest engagement data, then turn on completion gating when you're ready to enforce a watch threshold. Every feature is purpose-built for Tutor LMS.

📊
Audience Retention Curves

See what percentage of viewers — or enrolled students — reach each point of the video. Drop-off moments become immediately visible so you know exactly which lessons need reworking.

🔥
Rewatch Hotspots

Identify the segments students replay most. Use this signal to find confusing sections that need clearer explanation or highlight key moments worth promoting.

👤
Per-Student Watch Reports

Drill into any individual learner to review their watch percentage, furthest point reached, attention ratio, completion status, and last-seen timestamp.

🗺️
Watch Heatmap & Playback Timeline

A visual heatmap shows watched, replayed, and skipped sections at a glance. The playback timeline logs pause, seek, and play events for deeper per-session review.

🔒
Completion Gating (Optional)

Require students to watch a set percentage of the video before 'Mark as Complete' unlocks. Enforcement is server-side, and a fail-open design ensures lessons without tracking data are never permanently locked.

👁️
Strict Attention Mode

Count watch time only while the browser tab is visible and the video is actually playing — a more reliable signal than raw playhead movement alone.

📥
CSV Export

Export per-video or per-student data for LMS admins, franchise owners, or external reporting tools. No manual data entry required.

▶️
Wide Video Player Support

Works with YouTube, Vimeo, Wistia, and self-hosted HTML5 video, including Tutor Player where enabled — covering virtually every video setup on Tutor LMS sites.

🎓
Built Exclusively for Tutor LMS

Native course and lesson pickers, enrolled-student denominators, and Mark as Complete integration. No LearnDash dependency — designed for Tutor from the ground up.

📋
Admin Watch Report Menu

A dedicated Watch Report section in wp-admin lets you browse analytics by video or by student, and access all plugin settings from one central place.

🗄️
Segment-Based Tracking Engine

Watch sessions, segments, and events are stored securely in your own WordPress database using purpose-built tracking tables — your data stays on your server.

👥
Cohort Analytics

View how an entire enrolled cohort reaches each point in a video, giving you population-level insight beyond what Tutor Pro's video percentage feature provides.

Your journey starts here

Three simple steps from install to insight — no third-party accounts, no data leaving your server.

1

Student Opens a Lesson Video

When a logged-in student plays a lesson video, the plugin begins tracking real progress in short time segments — capturing play, pause, seek, and replay events alongside tab visibility so you know exactly when attention was present.

2

Data Is Saved to Your WordPress Database

All watch sessions, segments, and events are stored securely in your own WordPress database using segment-based tracking tables. Nothing is sent to external servers — your student data stays on your installation, full stop.

3

Review Reports & Optionally Enable Gating

Open Watch Report in wp-admin to analyse retention curves, heatmaps, and per-student timelines by video or by student. When ready, turn on completion gating to require a minimum watch percentage before 'Mark as Complete' unlocks.

Built with integrity, backed by support

Every purchase comes with the assurances you'd expect from a professional plugin built for educators who care about their students.

Your questions, honestly answered

No sales spin — just straightforward answers to what instructors actually ask before buying.

Do I need Tutor Pro, or does the free version of Tutor LMS work?

Tutor LMS Watch Report requires only the free version of Tutor LMS. Tutor Pro is optional — the plugin adds cohort analytics, retention curves, and per-student timelines beyond what Pro's video percentage feature provides, so Pro users benefit further but it is not a requirement.

Which video players does this actually support?

The plugin works with YouTube, Vimeo, Wistia, and self-hosted HTML5 video. Best results are achieved with Tutor Player for YouTube and Vimeo embeds. Common iframe embeds are also supported.

What does 'fail-open design' mean — could students get permanently locked out?

If a lesson has no tracking data recorded yet — for example, a brand-new video or a student whose session wasn't captured — the gating rule will not permanently lock them out. The fail-open design ensures students are never blocked by a missing data edge case.

Is student watch data stored on my server or sent somewhere else?

All data is stored securely in your own WordPress database using purpose-built tracking tables. Nothing is transmitted to external analytics servers — your student data stays on your installation.

Can I track anonymous visitors who aren't logged in?

The plugin is optimised for logged-in students, which enables full per-student reports. Logged-out (anonymous) tracking is optional and is turned off by default. For compliance or attendance use cases, logged-in tracking is strongly recommended.

What exactly does one single-site licence cover?

One purchase covers a single WordPress installation and includes all courses, lessons, videos, and students on that site. The licence is an annual subscription with one activation key, renewable each year at the same price.
